Description:  Highly intricate rectangular braided rug made as a wall hanging by Miss Cooper Jones circa 1950. She was an architect-interior designer, artist and clothing designer. At one time she had her own fashion label. This rug explores some very interesting techniques; The center consists of a perfect circle made from 7 turns of braid. Around that are six radially arranged spokes consisting of four braids and the intervening areas are filled with eight braids arranged circumferentially. Outside this are panels of six braids arranged lengthwise. These are in turn separated by two strands of interdigitating braids and the entire ensemble is finally enclosed by a border of three braids. There are carefully contrived openings at the ends of these panels. Think this is complicated? Try following it through the pictures and imagine the original creativity in its construction! Condition: absolutely perfect, no wear because it is was hung, no sign of fading, beautifully vibrant colors.
